USDA-FSIS to Hold Webinar on WGS for Food Safety in July

June 11, 2024

On July 8, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. ET, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS) will hold an hour-long webinar, titled, “Using Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) to Support FSIS Food Safety and Public Health Mission.”

The webinar is intended for both internal and external stakeholders. The event will outline how FSIS scientists use WGS to characterize bacterial pathogens isolated from meat, poultry, and egg products; to prevent contaminated products from going to commerce; and to help identify products that may be the cause of foodborne illness. Interested individuals can join on July 8 at 1:00 P.M. ET through Microsoft Teams or join by phone at 202-650-0123 with access code 982252168#.
